The world is in transition, it’s a rocky time. We are constantly bombarded with information, stress and fear. All the demands, responsibilities and uncertainty of modern life can be draining, making you feel bereft and empty. It might feel as if the well has run dry.
I have found that having a regular creative practice can be restorative and soul nourishing. It is one of the best forms of self-care that is also fun and rewarding. And self-care is very important in today’s world. Like the instructions they give you on an airplane – “Put the oxygyn mask on yourself first” – because otherwise, you can’t be helpful to anyone else.
Engaging in a creative endeavor tends to provide a “refresh and reset”. It is a portal into “the zone”. Something happens during our moments of creativity that is difficult to quantify. But when we are in the zone, we are present in the NOW.
In fact, scientific studies have found that the benefits of creative activity to be many and varied:
- It ignites your imagination and makes you feel more energized and enthusiastic. Expressing yourself creatively is deeply fulfilling.
- It opens up new ways of thinking and seeing the world around you. Ordinary objects can become sources of inspiration.
- It helps relieve stress and anxiety. Difficult emotions can be worked through productively via artistic channels.
- It’s a healthy outlet for emotions and pent-up energy.
- It stimulates your brain and enhances your mental well-being. The process releases a cascade of beneficial chemicals in the body.
- It connects you with a community of like-minded creative people seeking self-expression.
- It builds your confidence as you develop skills and can take pride in your creations.
- It allows you to spread joy through the beauty and humor of your artistic works.
To put it simply, it’s fun!
Making time for creative play is good for us!
Success with painting leads to success with many things, it carries over into every part of your life.
If you long to reconnect with that feeling of aliveness, you’ve come to the right place. Here you’ll find a supportive community and resources to help establish your own artistic practice, at your own pace and preference.
The simple act of drawing, cutting or applying brush to canvas can be meditative, centering our busy minds in the present moment. As we relax into the process, new ideas and inspiration can emerge spontaneously. Over time, the compounds of these small creative acts turn into a renewed sense of fulfillment and joy.
It has been my experience that building creativity into your life brings many rewards. It enlivens your spirit, provides balance, and benefits both mental and physical health.
And who doesn’t want more of that?
That is why I have created this space – because sometimes we need some direction and parameters to make it simple and easy for us to participate in the realm of art and creativity. In The Art Party Studio Membership, my intention is to be your guide and to provide that direction so that we can come together in a community of like-minded people who also see the value in developing a regular creative practice.
